blogsphere vs. mainstream media

The last decade of the 20th century will be remembered by the global Internet and the first decade of the 21st century will be remembered by blogs.
Blogging is the most popular and sophisticated way to express your own oppinion on a public published articles, theme conversations, topic comments, etc. Blog is a replacement for the mainstream media. In oppinion of several critics, bloggers have no checka and balances. There's a lack of control in that media sphere.
Blogs do not represent a higher standard of media integrity and they have their advantages and disadvantages; blogs are products of people who may or may not know what they are talking about but on the other hand, they are useful because they are interactive, immediate and accessible to anyone who stumbles on a truth the mainstream media, for whatever reason, to ignore. They deliver unique values, publication and distribution costs "nothing", etc.
Overall, I believe that they are quite useful and they are not the substitut for other traditional media, blogs won't even replace them, but they will complement them. They aren't better than traditional media, they are just different.
I assume that that extracts some additional value from the mainstream media and they provide immediate feedback to those who use them.

The Control of the Internet

Any network requires some centralized control and administration in order to function. For exampel, global phone system is controled and administered by International TeleCommunication Union which is now part of the "UN family".
But there is a difference between controling the phone system and the internet. Internet is controled and coordinated by Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which is a privat nonprofit organization established in 1998 by the US.
But there's aproblem, because many governments think, that Internet should be regulated multilateraly, like phone or some other network.
ICANN in their oppinion is an instrument of American hegemony over cyberspace; private-sector makes favours to US.
In taht purpose there has been many UN's World Conferences on the Information society; problems according to the question of Internet Control. It's interesting thast even China (as a huge network market) has called for the creation of a new treaty organization.
I know that internet network is huge network which should be controlled by several different organizations world-wide and I believe that there's a need to establish an organization which would deal with administration.

INTERNET: health care over the internet

The provision of health care over the internet is a rapidly evolving and potentially beneficial means of delivering treatment otherwise unsought or unobtainable. Internet interventions and regulations are tipically behavioral treatments operationalized and transformed for the web delivery with the goal of symptom improvement. The literature on the utility of Internet interventions is limited, and there are fewer outcome study findings. There should be a clear overview how Internet interventions and preventions are used in clinical practice; what are future directions and implications of this kind of use. It's obvious that Internet interventions will not replace face-2-face care and that's why is very doubtful that this kind of intervention will gain and get some importance as a powerful component of successful psychobehavioral treatment.

I find this topic very interesting to discuss...

Introduction

Hello to everyone. My name is Jure Pogačar. I am a postgraduate student at the Faculty of social sciences in the capital of Slovenia - Ljubljana. I graduated at the department of marketing communication in Ljubljana, where we learned about general things of communication studies, so i cannot say that I have wide knowledge about new media and similar topics. I hope I'll get some more general knowledge at the subject New Media and society.
I would also like to say thet I don't prefer using computers, except for daily use; reading on-line newspaper, checking stock exchange worldwide, checkin e-mail, etc. That's why I prefer more face-to-face interactions with friends and other people, because it's more personal than chating by using on-line facilities.
However, I hope we will have some great discusions about certain topic on the blog.

That would be all for the first time.

Jure
